France Alumni Day 2023
Launched in 2014, the France Alumni network enables international alumni in France to stay in touch with their peers and with France. These alumni, who act as relays in the economic, cultural and political spheres of their home countries, form an invaluable network of influence for France. Led by Campus France, the network currently gathers 370,000 members worldwide. In the Czech Republic, the France Alumni network was launched in 2016 and currently has over 650 members.
To showcase this talent, the Ministry of Europe and Foreign Affairs decided to create the "France Alumni Days", the first edition of which took place from May 13 to 26, 2023.
In the Czech Republic, the France Alumni Day took place on May 24 at 5pm in the Palais Buquoy (French Embassy in the Czech Republic), with the following programme;
Alexis Dutertre, Ambassador of France to the Czech Republic, and Václav Velčovský, Director General for International Affairs, Europe and European Structural Funds at the Czech Ministry of Education, Youth and Sports, honored the recipients of the 2023 French Government scholarships (Barrande doctoral scholarships, Eiffel Excellence and France Excellence Europa scholarships, Cité Internationale des Arts Residence scholarships, and French as a Foreign Language scholarships). Congratulations to our new laureates!
We then opened the floor to our alumni for a round-table discussion on the theme of "Innovation issues in France and the Czech Republic", and had the immense pleasure of officially relaunching the Czech section of Sciences Po Alumni, in the presence of Mr. Lukáš Macek, Director of the Dijon Campus, and Eva Faltusova and Jakub Novotný, the new co-presidents.
Finally, the evening closed with the opening of our exhibition "Portraits d'Alumni - Vos talents, notre richesse" (Alumni Portraits - Your talents, our wealth), featuring 17 portraits of Czech alumni who have completed all or part of their studies in France: each of the photos reflects the many relationships that unite our two countries and that our alumni embody on a daily basis.
